CellarMe x OOSA

Written by Nicoló Pudel

I am excited to share my passion for South African excellence with the like-minded founders of OOSA. My journey began 15 years ago when I moved to Cape Town from Europe. I quickly became acquainted with one of South Africa’s most revered exports: the wine industry.

My first venture, Port2Port.wine, allowed customers in South Africa and the United Kingdom to shop for their favourite wines online. This portal connected wine lovers directly to over 500 brands, wineries, and importers. Port2Port grew to become the nation’s largest liquor marketplace. After an initial investment by Heineken in 2019, it became part of the Norman Goodfellows group of companies, continuing to thrive and demonstrating the momentum of South African wine.

The Uniqueness of South African Wine

What makes the industry so special? South Africa is the oldest wine-producing country outside of Europe. It boasts incredible geological variety with some of the oldest soils on earth. Surrounded by two oceans, the region offers diverse growing conditions. From the scorching sun of the Swartland, where some of the oldest vines produce highly concentrated red wines and rich, minerally whites, to the high-altitude vineyards in Elgin and the Hemel-en-Aarde region, known for cool climate sites producing Burgundian-styled Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. South Africa is not just a wine-producing nation; it is a wine-producing world, offering a vast array of wine styles and world-class quality. In recent years, the international wine community has recognized this, awarding perfect scores (100 Points) to some of our most revered wines, such as the legendary Kanonkop Paul Sauer, Porseleinberg Syrah, and Boschkloof Epilogue.

The Birth of CellarMe

Upon my return to Europe in 2020, I was committed to sharing my love for South African wine and building an international platform. This platform would enable visitors to South African wineries to seamlessly purchase wines on-site and have them delivered directly to their door in Europe from the closest authorized distributor, minimizing shipping fees and maximizing delivery times. This idea developed into CellarMe. Co-founded with Maximilian Schiefer and Moritz Schreiner from Munich-based The Wine Store, CellarMe launched at the beginning of 2024 and is currently onboarding as many top South African wineries as possible. Our network already includes Cape Point Vineyards, Kaapzicht, Thelema, and Beau Constantia, to name a few.

Celebrating South African Excellence

We are ecstatic to see OOSA opening its doors in Munich, showcasing top South African design and art. We have worked hard to reach this point, where South Africa is recognized not only as a world-class destination but also as a source of some of the best lifestyle and luxury products the world has to offer.
