HARRINGTON Chair
With a nod to Danish designers Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen and their uncompromising approach to function and form, the Harrington Chair sees slender lines and a soft padded seat come together in a robust lightweight frame. Its distinctive form complements smart or relaxed dining at home, while also being strong enough to withstand the demands of a busy environment. The Harrington Chair takes its name from Cape Town's Harrington Street, a bustling, creative hub in the East City frequented by locals and visitors for its wine bars, farm-to-table eateries, bespoke retail and innovative co-working spaces. These dynamic conditions call for design that balances elegance, comfort and urbanity. The scooped back and upholstered seat of the Harrington Chair encourage relaxation and repose in moments of pause within a busy schedule or socially, as the nights grow longer. When making a solid-wood chair, JMFS is guided by principles that prioritise weight, strength and form in equal measure. Employing fine craftsmanship and artisanal techniques, with specific attention to detail on traditional jointing, we are able to transform minimal, integrous materials into a contemporary form that honours modernist design. As with most of our pieces, the Harrington Chair is available in a variety of timbers, finishes and custom painted colours.
